Best wishes to friend of trekMountains, Charles Masters on his trip to summit Cho Oyu, at 8201m the world’s 6th highest mountain. You can follow his blog here: http://chooyu2013.wordpress.com/

Charles took some great photos when he came with trekMountains on the Alta Via 1 in the Italian Dolomites, and kindly gave us his permission to use them.

Maurice Herzog

Maurice Herzog, pioneering Annapurna mountaineer, dies
If you haven’t read Annapurna by Maurice Herzog, I strongly recommend you put this book on your Christmas list – it is a fascinating read about the exploratation of the Himalaya 8000m peaks. When the expedition set out they didn’t know whether they were going to climb Annapurna or Dhaulagiri – it depended which mountain they found first! Now that’s what I call a proper recce trip!
