The Annapurna Sanctuary trek, (also known as the Annapurna Base Camp trek) is in one of the world’s finest trekking destinations.
This area north of Pokhara offers unrivalled trekking and dramatic, close-up views of some of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world.
The Annapurna Sanctuary (where Annapurna Base Camp is located), is a natural alpine amphitheatre where you will find yourself completely surrounded by 6000, 7000 and 8000 metre snow-capped Himalayan peaks at very close range.
Due to the incredible range of altitude and consequent geographical and climatic variations, trekking in this area is a naturalist’s dream. In just 8 days we move from the sub-tropical areas around Pokhara, with villages, farmland and jungle, through alpine zones to the high tundra and glaciers of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Trekking in the Annapurna region is very accessible, even to people who haven’t trekked at altitude before. Starting low (around 800m), the Annapurna region offers trekkers on this route the chance to acclimatise much more gradually than the typical Everest region itineraries, which means that the Annapurna Sanctuary trek is an an ideal first Himalayan trek.
Why book this Annapurna Sanctuary trek with trekMountains?
On our itinerary we spend time at both Machhapuchhare and Annapurna Base Camps, allowing us to fully appreciate both sunset and sunrise at both camps, and as an aid to our acclimatisation and allowing time to explore the Annapurna Sanctuary in depth. We also include in the trek a visit to Poon Hill at dawn to see sunrise on the Annapurna Range and Machhapuchhare.
If your boss doesn’t share your passion for the Himalaya and you are short of annual leave, we can reduce the length of this itinerary, for example by removing day 2 from the itinerary. Contact us to chat through your requirements. We are very flexible!
